International Conference on Prevention of Corruption

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Macedonia and the International Foundation Balkan Net in cooperation with the Bulgarian Association of Municipal Clerks organized the conference on topic “Prevention Measures against Corruption – challenges and possibilities for Macedonia and Bulgaria”, which took place on 27th of October 2011 at the Continental Hotel in Skopje beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The main goals of the conference were as follows:

• to exchange views about the status of prevention corruption in Macedonia and Bulgaria;
• to present the various anti-corruption initiatives in both countries;
• to exchange experience in the areas of corruption prevention in both countries;
• to contribute to greater success in the further activities of the state institutions; professional and scientific public organisations, NGO’s and medias in the fight against corruption in Macedonia and Bulgaria;
• to encourage the relevant stake holders to develop new initiatives in the struggle against corruption in both countries.

The conference topics and selection of the speakers adequately addressed these goals and  achieved contribution towards initiating discussions on all relevant issues.

Bulgaria was represented with participants from municipalities, National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria, Ministry of interior, State Agency for National Security, National Security Council, the Association "Club-Journalists Against Corruption" and other relevant stakeholders. Macedonian participants will included representatives from the  Ministry of interior, State commission for prevention of corruption, the association “Transparency Macedonia”, the State commission for money laundry prevention and prevention of financing of terrorism, the public revenue office of the Republic of Macedonia, representatives from the media etc.
